I've written a new template for PHP MySQL based GUI for our project . soon I'll upload it to our sourcforge account for public viewing .
Atlast SDS ver1.0 is made accordingly to the exact format provided by REDHAT.
Still some changes will be made.
It will be pushed tomorrow to Redhat .
A Change Of Plan:
A seperate client module which were planned for cnms has been removed.So the new SRS is made accordingly with cilent part removed and some alteration in the concern sections.
Newly Added:
A restriction about the client section,platform etc . 🙂
SRS(Software Requirement Specification) version 1.0 is revised ,altered and slightly enhanced . SRS version 1.1 is ready .Will mail to other developers of CNMS for their suggestions to enhance and further alteration 🙂

Today I sent an email to the “Redhat Scholarship Team” to inform them that we are using PHP & HTML to design fort end of CNMS instead of GTK. Because it is most power full, easy to use and easy to develop than GTK. And we have too short time duration to complete. I copy and paste the letter that I send to the “Redhat Scholarship Team” below.

We, Group: RHS 053575 are decided to use PHP & HTML based front end instead of GTK in our project, called “Centralized Network Monitoring System (CNMS)”. After reviewing all possible consideration we decided that PHP & HTML based front end is more efficient than GTK.
We also started the project as PHP & HTML base front end and done most of the design. It is really impossible to go back to GTK. But our proposal is to design front end in GTK. So our request is please permit us to develop our project using PHP & HTML based front end.

This project is a front end for especially broadband users to track their bandwidth usage this is also applicable for tracking data flow across LAN, WAN or other network means.
This service which starts at boot time, and starts an IPaccounting script/program which puts data from IPtables statistics into a database (preferably My SQL). The user would be able to access the data from a PHP based user interface. It will also produce detailed graphs for different types of DATA I/O (FTP, HTTP, POP, SMTP, etc), have time slots when things are not accounted/accounted separately, have a warning system (which sends out mail).
There is also a cost accounting system for mainly for the broadband user. They can configure the cost of use of his/her broadband connection using system configuration form. It is useful for the billing. They can print out the summary of their network usage and the usage cost by every month or every year.
There will be also a provision to control the total network traffic through an inbuilt firewall management.
